Let’s bolster local food growth

Dear Sir:

The farmers market is a glowing tribute to local people involving themselves in the food chain, however, it is only “on line’ for a few hours a week.

I wonder if the big three in Terrace could show more support to this active community by selling their produce through their stores every day.

It could be displayed separately to allow consumers a choice. I’m sure that “liability” roadblocks could be worked out (where there’s a will…).

Perhaps it’s a question of mark-up privacy, perhaps.

This solution makes a giant leap into sustainable agriculture by almost eliminating transportation costs and allowing us to get back to the days when tomatoes were “designed” for flavour by Nature rather than by Man for its ability to travel into the north, intact but lacking in taste.
