I remember in elementary school we would all gather in the auditorium on Nov. 11, and there would be a short talk from the principal to remind us why we were there and the sacrifices the veterans made for us.
We would then have two minutes of silence, promptly starting at 11 a.m.
I know that is a relatively short time to pay respect to those brave men and women who fought for my freedom.
We have a chance to pay our respects this Friday (Nov. 11).
The Royal Canadian Legion 100 Mile Branch 260 parade will muster In the A&W parking lot at 10:30 a.m., then march down Birch Avenue to the 100 Mile Community Hall, with the ceremony starting at 10:55 a.m.
Hotdogs and hot chocolate will be available at the hall following the service.
The Legion on Alder Avenue will host an open house for those 19 years and older from noon (lunch) to closing.
Honour our veterans this Remembrance Day.
