To the Editor,
The idea to construct an incinerator at Duke Point for Vancouver’s garbage is currently entertained by city hall and the Regional District of Nanaimo.
As with all controversial projects, the ‘jobs’ promise is used as persuasive argument. Strict observance of provincial, federal and what have you, standards is the next promise.
However, whenever a train derails, oil tanker sinks, nuclear plants melts down or oil spills over lakes and rivers, people find that they were duped by corporations, politicians and bureaucrats. This incinerator haze seems a doubtful proposition and therefore, when in doubt, say no.
