Here are a few items related to Sookie Sam.
He was a creation of my father (Leif Sorensen).
After taking over Sunny Shores in 1973 he decided we needed to add more things for families to do while staying in the campsites or motel units.
In the mid 1970s we built a miniature golf course and Sookie Sam was born, being the original mascot for this.
In his first incarnation he held a large green sign in his arms that read “Sookie Sam.s Mini Golf.”
As far as I know, Sunny Shores was never a logging operation. However there were several different sawmills in the area over years past.
Sookie Sam has been rebuilt and replaced several times over the years as he has succumbed to many things including grad pranks, chain saws, fire and even root rot.
