Re: The effects of ”housing first” and what’s planned for Corfield in Parksville
I was very happy to see in the Aug. 9 the truthful and research-backed article about 222 Corfield. I have heard many of the comments against and found most of them to be off the cuff, baseless points coming from many who have no experience, education or knowledge about addictions or strategies to assist those that want to get better and what really is needed give help.
A human’s basic need for shelter and security is paramount to all aspects of health. I would rather tourists see that we in this beautiful paradise are willing and proud to give this assistance to fellow citizens in our area, rather than sweep them under the rug and pretend that the weak and weary of life do not deserve our help and compassion when asked for.
Finally the voice of reason and facts, instead of judgmental rhetoric. Why did it take so long?
