When will it end, this October perhaps?
The last four years we have been fed a bill of goods by the “illustrious group of seven — our council. In the beginning, we were promised accountability; fiscal responsibility; openness and transparency etc. Up to now, our forest fire smoke-filled air is clearer than the promises of council.
Two plus years ago, Trio came on the scene and got an anchor into the park. That anchor has not been totally dug up yet even though we paid $200,000 (plus or minus) to have it go away. It appears that the shovel is still in the sand as a contract was awarded to Tom Hedquist and Trademark Industries. Somewhat still tied to Trio Marine Group, it would seem.
How convenient. It makes one wonder as to what other clandestine plans are in the works before October? Stay tuned folks.
It would seem that our mayor has been taking pages from Donald Trump and the “Book of Trumpologies.” This book points out all sorts of ways to deflect, lay blame to otherwise pass the buck. A perfect illustration of this is the fact that the mayor pointed out the bid was chosen by staff and not council. How convenient. You shift the blame for something to underlings (who are hired and/or approved by council). Somebody else can take the flack that council should be ultimately responsible for. It’s Trumpism 101!
Elections are coming in three months as well. The big question to ask ourselves is: do we want more of this weak, meaningless, propagandized rhetoric? Or, do we want a serious meaningful style of governance that includes us?
Our chance to affect change will come this October — be ready.
