Many thanks to the city administrator for taking action on cleaning up the downtown sidewalks and additional bylaw enforcement.
Mr Weeber, the city administrator did advise me that he took on the cleanup campaign based on my letter to the editor a few weeks ago. Someone is taking notice at city hall.
May I offer another suggestion Mr. Weeber regarding the downtown?
My initiative to suggest the cleanup in the downtown was from what I witnessed in Amsterdam. Their streets were constantly being cleaned of garbage and their sidewalks and streets were constantly being washed and scrubbed. So Mr. Weeber please consider sending a water tanker down Main Street in the early hours to wash the dust and freshen the streets now that council has invested monies to improve the downtown.
Clean city streets will attract people into the downtown. No one likes to live with a dirty carpet/floors no one wants to see dirty streets. Well worth the cost in my opinion.
Congrats to everyone working on the Peach Festival. Great events, great attendance. Well done to the board members and the volunteers. Great boost to the city’s economy.
I have to say shame on city council for now asking city residents to go to an open house and help solve the parking problems at the South Okanagan Events Centre (see advertisements in this weeks papers). This is a problem that they created by allowing the casino to be located on that site. Completely ignoring all the opposition for taking away the parking by allowing the casino’s application for that zoning. This was voiced constantly by the speakers who presented at the public hearing.
It is this council who are the ones who should find a solution. A solution which can only be solved by buying more surrounding properties.
A very costly solution to the problem they created. No vision, no leadership.
