Re: Carboot sale in Maple Ridge for Starfish Pack program.
What a great day. The weather cooperated perfectly. Even though the forecast was 60 per cent chance of rain, the rain held off for the entire event.
We had 27 vendors arrive bright and early to set up their areas. Volunteers from Burnett Fellowship church prepared pancakes from 8:30 yo 11 a.m. and our youth group cooked up and even delivered hot dogs to vendors from noon till 2 p.m.
We also had a penny candy table, bake sale and a cake walk with over 15 cakes donated.
It was awesome seeing people leaving with armloads of goods and smiles on their faces.
In total, the event raised $6,934 for the Starfish Pack program. This brings our total for the year to just over $10,500 raised by Burnett Church.
To add Eric Langton elementary to the Starfish program, a need of 52 students at $525 per student per year, the program will need to raise an additional $27,300 for the 2017/2018 school year.
Burnett will continue to raise funds as a church. It was recently agreed at a ministerial meeting of Maple Ridge churches to donate 50 per cent of the offering taken at the Church at Countryfest on July 30 to the Starfish Pack program.
