LETTER: Attack ads politically useful

Pointing out specific shortfalls in the opposition position

In response to G E MacDonell’s letter in your August 12 edition:

We are all turned off by attack ads, but all parties do it. It must be somehow politically useful or they’d give it up.

Regarding the recent Conservative ads pointing up the lack of experience and the reckless spending proposals of the Liberals and the NDP, they attack specific shortfalls in the opposition position that are valid. Quite different than publishing unsupported and unlikely charges against the government in power. Mr. Fast retains my confidence.
