When I worked in the private sector, if I made a mistake it was between my boss and myself. Those who work in the public sector often have their mistakes displayed for all the world to see.
Such is the case for the waterfront in front of the new Kelowna Yacht Club.
The new KYC building is a spectacular addition to Kelowna’s waterfront. Members are all eagerly awaiting the time they can sit on the deck and watch the sunset. Likewise, Cactus Club is paying a good dollar to lease one half of the lower level. I’m sure they are counting on lake views as a drawing card.
Given the above, it really makes you wonder what kind of civil servant decides that KYC must plant a solid wall of trees that will grow to at least 60 feet in height. So far the beavers have been helping to solve this madness, chopping down six trees in the past week.
Isn’t it interesting that there are no trees in front of Jim Stuart plaza, so that the skateboarders will always have a great view.
Now we all know that a civil servant will never admit to screwing up, so we can only hope that the beavers win this round and force the city to abandon this folly.
