Letter: Bright, noisy car wash belongs in industrial area

This type of business, with its light and noise pollution, belongs in an industrial or established business district…

To the editor:

I was alarmed to hear of the proposal to build a large car wash adjacent to both Sandalwood Retirement Community and Sutton Glen Park which is part of the Brandt’s Creek Linear Park.

This area is frequented by many dog walkers, cyclists, elderly people and children, not to mention the many ducks and birds.

It is not just the residents of Sandalwood that would be affected but the many people who enjoy this park and walkway everyday.

What possible business sense does it make to have a large car wash two blocks from an existing one? I use the Petro Can car wash on Kane frequently and there is rarely anyone waiting in line.

This type of business, with its light and noise pollution, belongs in an industrial or established business district, not in a quiet community adjacent to a popular park.

I believe this business would adversely affect the entire neighbourhood.
