LETTER: Bylaw officers should charge illegal campers instead

We note that a motorhome has been parked for several days now at a vacant lot across from the Qualicum Beach waterfront, and there are often recreational vehicles parked overnight in the paved parking areas along the waterfront as well. By being allowed to park there these visitors are denying income to local tax-paying campsites and RV parks.

Perhaps it would behoove our bylaw officers to spend their time dealing with these illegal ‘campers’ rather than fining a small business $300 for attempting to promote itself in a colourful and unique way.

We love living in Qualicum beach but sometimes the attitudes of residents and the powers-that-be astound us.
