Letter: Catholic Church is collecting for Nepal relief

I invite Mr. Bertand to become a part of this incredible effort and find out first hand exactly where the Catholic Church is.

To the editor:

Re:  Where is the Catholic Church?

Fern Bertand was curious [in a letter to the editor] regarding the role of the Catholic Church in the Nepal disaster.

If Mr. Bertand had been at Mass on Sunday, he would have noted Father Pat announce a second collection for the needs of the people of Nepal. He would also have noted that an organization called Development and Peace, a Canadian Catholic Organization, has been and will continue to look after those in need including the most recent disaster in Nepal.

If Mr. Bertand looks on their web site, the whole page is dedicated to the Nepal earthquake. There is also an opportunity for Mr. Bertand and all others to contribute and have the government match their donations.

Further, it should be noted that the Catholic Church has more hospitals than any other organization and every day the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than any other organization in the world.  I invite Mr. Bertand to become a part of this incredible effort and find out first hand exactly where the Catholic Church is.

Proud to be a Catholic,
