To the editor:
As of July 9th the washrooms for Hot Sands Beach in City Park have been under renovations since sometime in May. Even in June I was surprised to see them closed because the beaches were already getting pretty good use. More recently, what arrived in their place was four porta-potties that, in thirty degree plus weather, are challenging but necessary, if you get my drift.
My family and I run a retail business that peaks during Christmas. No matter how exciting my renovations plans were (including unforeseen circumstances), I would likely bankrupt the business if I insisted on closing the store to renovate during my peak season. I would simply abandon the project, patch up whatever was urgent, and then make new plans for after the rush.
Maybe there’s more to this than meets the urge but the bathroom administration is now down two for two in my books. That’s because I am still puzzled by the need to spend something like eight hundred grand for the other pooper located in City Park. I guess money is cheap and patronizing your customers is just a second thought when your income is not determined by the cruel but real world of free enterprise.
