Editor:
In response to the article “Shelter Feud Heats Up” March 31 and Mr. Ralph West’s letter about working at Riverview – he has hit it right on the head.
My wife worked in the health care system and more than once in her career, the leaders of this province have dropped the axe on a number of departments all under the ‘cost cutting’ battle cry of making the system more efficient and cost effective.
Well, my question to Mr. Eby after several decades of a failing system, ‘how’s that working out for you?’
The very people that were getting the help they needed were thrown under the bus, out in the streets with no help and the out of touch thinking by these political experts continues to this day.
So rather than throwing your cost saving plan to the individuals in the cities and town of the province to deal with, here is a though out of the box – get those institutes back up and running. The people of the province do care about those in desperate straights.
To the mayor and council of Penticton and mayor of Coquitlam: Keep up the fight for these people and tell Eby it’s time to step up to the plate. Do the right thing and put a stop to using these souls as pawns in your game. Here is another thought you should entertain, listen to those that know the history and worked there.
