Re: Polluted logic plagues pesticide bylaws (Opinion, Oak Bay News, Jan. 31)
Tom Fletcher’s scorn for his readers is increasingly palpable each week. Want to keep toxic chemicals out of the soil, groundwater, and ocean? You’re an illogical hippie idealist. Want to ban oil pipelines? You’re an unrealistic idiot with no idea how the economy works.
I, for one, am just plain tired of it. I hear there are plenty of jobs back in the oil patch. If Fletcher loathes environmentalism and idealism so much, maybe he should consider a move. I know there are plenty of young writers capable of nuanced prose and careful logic — things we miss with the incumbent — who’d love to replace him.
