Last February, council in a tie vote defeated a proposal to build a low-barrier supportive housing project across from the Abbotsford Community Services Headquarters on Montrose Ave in Abbotsford. The land would be donated by the ACS organization.
Now, eight months later, council proposes to build the same housing project on Gladys Avenue, only a good stone’s throw away from the first proposed sight. The main difference this time is that the parcels of land, valued at $1.6 million, is to be donated at the taxpayers’ expenditure. But does anyone care?
I cannot help but wonder, are some councillors following like “blind mice” perhaps? Do they think at all?
One bright light on the horizon comes is the fact that there are council elections coming up very soon now.
