LETTER: Culling the crows is not the right solution

I agree that predation is a sorry and sad thing but she has total disregard for the most ruthless predator of them all, us...

Debbie Mendini surely refers to the human race when she expresses the need for culling the crows she has taken exception to (Abbotsford News July 25).

I agree that predation is a sorry and sad thing but she has total disregard for the most ruthless predator of them all, us.

Don’t blame the crows, Debbie, when we are surely partly responsible for not taking care of our garbage correctly.

We also multiply more and faster when living is good, taking away the necessary space and freedom from all animals, never ever taking their very valid needs into account, and eliciting undesirable behavior from them that would otherwise probably rarely be exhibited. (Obviously I am not referring only to crows with that sentence.)

Incidentally, aside from the nasty, predatory aspect of culling them, it would be a totally useless exercise, for I have read from many sources over the years that other crows would just take their place.

Something to be glad about: they clean up dead animals.

Surely we have the unfair advantage. Here’s a thought, maybe we could change our attitude and learn about them.

They are so intelligent. Out-witting them would not be easy but worth trying. Is an undesirable trait a reason for killing them?
