Editor: Re: “Council concerned Brookswood aquifer is at risk” (the Times, April 26)
An application is being sent to the Township of Langley Council for a delegation to be heard during the evening session of council, on Monday, May 29.
Hundreds of local residents have signed a petition to express their concern to protect the aquifers and well-water in the Brookswood/Fernridge area.
Many community members have little knowledge of the potential release of industrial pollutants/emissions from two facilities in South Surrey’s Campbell Heights business park on the Langley/Surrey border. These emissions could compromise our Langley water.
We appeal to residents in the community to attend the Township meeting on Monday, May 29 to support our delegation for Zero Emissions.
This is an extremely important issue, as a large portion of our drinking water comes from the Brookswood aquifer which is shallow and very vulnerable.
