My wife and I had the pleasure of attending Abbotsford’s Remembrance Day ceremony at Thunderbird Square.
The ceremony was extremely well done and well organized. It was well attended and what a beautiful day it was. Our only big disappointment was that a prayer was recited entirely in Punjabi. I’m guessing that, based on my recollection of the large grateful crowd present, that said prayer might have been understood by less than five per cent of those in attendance. We were not the only ones expressing the same disappointment.
Since Canada has two official languages one would have expected a French/English prayer whereas the majority present could have reflected upon some comforting words in either one of our official languages. The majority of us bowed our heads in prayer to totally unknown content.
Special thanks and appreciation to all of those present.
