Re: “Vaccine passports violate privacy,” Progress Letters Aug. 27, 2021.
The author of the above letter states: I prefer to allow everyone to manage their own medical health. Does this mean the next time those who feel this way, when ill or injured, will say, “Send the bill to me? I don’t want the government involved.”
I believe very strongly in the freedom of the press and the freedom of the person. Where did this attitude that the rights of an individual reign supreme come from? In the animal kingdom – to which humans also belong – from ants to elephants the group, the herd, the flock’s protection is paramount.
Those preparing the vaccine passports are aware of the need for privacy. They safeguard the information as much as possible, even if it’s done online. I’ve never seen a passport but they’re being done in many countries. How can revealing that you’ve been vaccinated possibly affect your private life?
Mr. Raddysh asks that public servants be urged to respond. Would it not be better to ask health officials to comment with facts rather than a politician who may alter the meaning to serve his purpose?
