Letter: don’t remove photos of former councillors

Past politicians want photos to remain at City Hall, not moved to Quesnel Museum

Editor,

Open letter to Quesnel City Council

As past members of Quesnel City Council, we respectfully ask that City Council reconsider their recent decision on a 4-3 vote to relocate City Council photographs to the museum.

This collection of past Council photographs displayed on Council Chamber walls has been part of history since Quesnel’s 50th anniversary in 1978.

As our City prepares for its 100th anniversary, many residents and visitors will no longer be able to enjoy this important piece of our community’s heritage in City Hall, where it rightfully belongs.

Most cities, towns, regional districts, school districts and other entities proudly respect their heritage in this manner.

We feel as former elected officials this historic collection should continue to be preserved and displayed in a public area of City Hall for future generations. We appreciate City Council reconsidering this previous decision.
