LETTER: Don’t typecast U.S. or Canadian border guards

I have read two letters in the Grand Forks Gazette recently regarding our border guards, which have been negative in content and disagree.

Re: Dealing with the bad eggs (letter, July 18 issue of the Grand Forks Gazette)

I have read two letters in the Grand Forks Gazette recently regarding our border guards, which have been very negative in content.

I cross the border on a weekly basis at the Danville crossing to pick up my mail at the U.S. Post Office.

A few times a year, I cross at Cascade.  At all times, I have found the border guards, on both the Canadian and American sides, to be courteous, efficient and respectful.

I am grateful to have the privilege of being able to enter our neighbouring country quite easily and if there is a line up because of searches, I know that they are taking care of all of us.

I have nothing but respect for these men and women who deal with the public in all its aspects day in and day out, never knowing when a dangerous situation can occur.

My thanks to all the border guards for a job well done.
