Editor: I’m writing in response to the recent article that seems to blame the victim of an accident between a car and a motorcycle.
Although speed may have been a factor, a much larger factor is that the driver of the car failed to recognize that he did not have enough time to make his turn into the oncoming lane in a safe manner.
This is repeated countless times throughout the summer as drivers either fail to see motorcyclists at all or don’t judge their rate of approach properly.
Please be aware of these issues as summer continues.
If in doubt let the motorcycle pass and then make your turn.
Lives depend on it.
