Excellent care at Cowichan hospital
I’m a former resident of the Lower Mainland, now on the Island. An emergency brought me to the Cowichan District Hospital Sept. 11, 2021. There, I was treated by Dr. Leech-Porter, a nurse, and a phlebotomist.
The quality of care and compassionate — yet professional — conduct of all involved was impressive. It increased my confidence in the plan we made immeasurably.
I particularly admired the way Dr. Leech-Porter involved other healthcare professionals in our discussion and plan. Dr. Leech-Porter turned the presence of the nurse and phlebotomist present to an advantage, soliciting their opinions.
With apologies for missing the names of the others involved, I write to thank them all for their excellent work. As I said at the time, under the auspices of Dr. Leech-Porter, the care I received Sept. 11 was as good, if not better, than some of my best on the Lower Mainland.
I had to return to hospital Sept. 12 where, again, I received excellent care. Things didn’t go as well on Sept. 13, but I prefer to focus on the positive. That said, I’m embarrassed to have missed the names of those involved Sept. 12, all of whom were also good. I have to go back today; fingers crossed for another positive outcome.
With profound appreciation,
Marjorie Brown
