LETTER: Giving back to the community

I was presented with an honourary life membership for eight years of faithful service as president.

The Penticton & District Stamp Club held their annual general meeting on June 5 with guest speaker Janice Perrino.

Perrino thanked the club members for their generous support after she was presented with a cheque for $8,803.19 in support of the new patient care tower at Penticton Regional Hospital. As the outgoing president, I presented Perrino with a card and best wishes for the future in her new executive position in Nanaimo.

I was presented with an honourary life membership for eight years of faithful service as president. I want to thank the members for their support and promise to stay very much involved in club matters, which include the collection of stamp material used for the club auctions, whose proceeds will go to the club’s charitable designations.

Those who wish to make donations of stamp material can contact me at 250-492-3875; gboersma@telus.net or deliver at 2600 Cornwall Dr. in Penticton (V2A 6X3).

Other charities supported by the club are: Moog and Friends Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, CNIB and the SPCA. All these groups were also presented with cheques containing the proceeds of auctions where the funds were asked to be directed to that specific charity. The Penticton & District Stamp Club thanks the community at large for their continued support.

Gus Boersma

Immediate Past President
