Letter: Helmetless bike riders flirting with disaster

I will continue commenting to those beautiful young people as I know their generation will take care of me—if they wear helmets.

To the editor:

My good friend Molly and I often walk Kelowna’s downtown core, from City Park to the Cawston Avenue area.

Oh how often have we have seen beautiful young men and women riding those beautiful custom designed cruiser bikes, flaunting “this is my beautiful bike and I look fantastic with my hair blowing in the breeze” attitude.

And, oh how often we have received the joyful comment “Mind your own business” or the loving yet not quite a peace sign of days gone by middle finger when all we did was say: “Where is your helmet” or “Who do you think is going to care for you when you fall off of that beautiful bike and bonk your beautiful brain?”

I will continue commenting to those beautiful young people as I know their generation will take care of me—if they wear helmets.

Molly, she could care less. She’s a dog.

Let’s just not get me going on those cell phones either, OK?

C. Howard,

Kelowna
