LETTER: Heritage park plans are not a secret

In the near future, we will look towards a revised Master Plan for our parks and work with our new advisory committee.

Re: ‘Public discussion on parks (Mission Record July 10).

There is nothing to hide. As a Mission councilor and a former board member, I would like to state, that there is nothing secretive about our plans for the (Fraser River Heritage Park) park. To be clear, the District will incorporate operations within the Parks Department.

In the near future, we will look towards a revised Master Plan for our parks and work with our new advisory committee.

A transition team,  consisting of current Board members and three councilors are meeting regularly to ensure there is a smooth  transition into 2016.

I anticipate all current activities and events will proceed as usual next year. Capital projects will be reviewed by council and a determination to spend taxpayer dollars will be weighted against other district priorities.

We have communicated this information to the board. I am puzzled, as to why Mr. Antonson is unclear with our intentions.
