Letter: High regard for care at KGH

…my journey was greatly aided by the expertise, humour, care, and compassion demonstrated by the scores of [caregivers].

To the editor:

My journey began this spring having been diagnosed with throat cancer. I was quickly put through a battery of tests to determine the extent of the disease and to formulate a plan for treatment.

I can honestly say that my journey was greatly aided by the expertise, humour, care, and compassion demonstrated by the scores of doctors, dentists, nurses, radiation technicians, chemo nurses, dieticians, dental assistants, volunteers, and other patients at both the Sindi Hawkins Cancer Centre as well as the Kelowna General Hospital’s 4B ward.

We have yet to learn if my journey will continue but I am confident that the highest standards of care are available in the Central Okanagan should we have to draw upon them again.

We are extremely fortunate to live in a place that has such high caliber people and resources.
