I have been a resident of Abbotsford for over 20 years and in that time have seen much growth take place.
Much has changed for the better, such as the Clearbrook Library, UFV and many other things. However, one thing that saddens me is the takeover of auto traffic to the expense of pedestrians and cyclists.
I recently have become a “retread” cyclist, and Abbotsford has a wonderful network of maintained public trails for everyone to enjoy. I very much enjoy riding the Discovery, the Fraser and the Willband Creek trails; however, when riding from my home to Willband Creek trail, I do not have a safe legal crossing of the Mission Highway at Valley Road.
How much safer it would be to have a pedestrian crossing across the highway here and then extend the trail eastbound to join with the already existing trail at Willband?
Also, additional parking could easily be installed along Valley Road. Frequently, the existing parking is overflowing, especially on the weekends.
