The nationally broadcast Tragically Hip concert raised $5,000 locally, and a total of $14,000 was tallied in the Southern Interior.
This successful initiative would not have been possible without the hard work of staff and volunteers, and the generosity of many donors nationwide.
Special thanks to participating local venues and all other venues across the country that broadcasted the Tragically Hip: A National Celebration.
The messaging wouldn’t have been heard as loud without the help of local media, which provided further support by building and placing ads in its Trail-area newspapers.
Much thanks to all the patrons who made their way out to celebrate the iconic band and donate to the Canadian Cancer Society’s cause.
“Funds aside, the events raised national awareness and brought the country together to celebrate music and life,” said Valerie Rossi, Annual Giving Coordinator for the West Kootenay Boundary region.
The Society is open to other independent ideas that raise funds and awareness for cancer research and support programming. Residents with a drive to start up an independent fundraiser for the Society are encouraged to pop into the Trail office, located in the South Kootenay Business Centre (Suite 15, 835 Spokane St.) or call 250-364-0403.
To be connected with an expert who can answer questions or find out more about how the Society’s programming can assist an individual on the road from diagnosis, to treatment and recovery, please call 1-888-939-3333.
Thanks for your continued support!
