Re: “Bible distribution in Abbotsford schools draws criticism”
In Canadian media we were told part of the story, yet in the age of borderless social media we can easily see a larger network where atheists south of the 49th parallel are also in similar fight against the distribution of Gideon Bibles through public schools. B
C Humanists recently retweeted a “Friendly Atheist” Hemant Mehta link and a “Secular Talk” video ultimately discussing how FFRF contacted the Satanic Temple (in response to Gideon Bibles in schools) which led to the distribution of satanic alongside atheist literature on April 1 in Colorado, no joke. They actually put the satanic and atheist literature together and a classic commercial line from the ’80s came to mind after seeing the picture – “I can’t tell the difference, can you tell the difference…”. Providing many still remember that decade, since it was also a time our public school libraries in Mission had Bibles.
So then fast-forward to 2016 – someone needs to ask, how is it 30 years later an alliance responsible for distributing satanic literature to children is used as an authority against access to Bibles in schools? It’s time we stop and look around like Buffalo Springfield.
Times have changed, the growing secular empire continues to extinguish the last of the rebels to a point where the Bible has been virtually removed from public schools. Yet, I for one have hope such an important historical book won’t be banned. A line from Star Wars comes to mind when thinking about the stiffening secular grip, “The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.”
So, then to conclude with a Bible verse and story reference for all, including the small rebel force called The Gideons International In Canada, “May the..Spirit be with you…” – 2 Corinthians 13:14. Because, it’s like David versus Goliath, if a younger generation knows what that means.
