Letter: Infill meeting coverage missed

Re: Infill housing strategy invites residents’ input, Oak Bay News, Sept. 2

On Saturday Sept. 10, our council scheduled and presided over two open house meetings at the University of Victoria on the topic of infill.

These meetings were of major importance to the future of Oak Bay and were very well attended.

I was not able to attend and was therefore looking forward to reading Oak Bay News’ coverage of both meetings. Two editions of the Oak Bay News have been printed since then without any such coverage let alone analysis. Your front page article on the Sept. 2 edition highlighted the importance of these meetings, so the absence of coverage is puzzling.

Reactions by those attending indicated that the meetings were poorly organized; there were major discrepancies/inaccuracies in the material presented; the main focus wasn’t specifically relevant to Oak Bay and council members were non-participants.

Surely Oak Bay News covered these important meetings. Did anyone take notes they could share with your readers?

The paper’s silence speaks volumes.
