To the editor:

With the imminent removal of the Kelowna Queensway boat launch scheduled for next year, it would appear that the most appropriate other launch facility for boaters would be the Water Street boat launch which was constructed by the City of Kelowna in 1989.

However, after some 27 years of service this substantial launch facility, located adjacent to the Delta Grand Hotel, now requires some repair. The engineered sand and rock transition from the outer concrete pads to the lake bottom has washed away over nearly three decades of use, and is now completely missing, which reveals a 30 cm vertical drop from the 12  per cent grade concrete pads.

See this excellent video produced by Mr. Marc Noel of Okanagan Sailing (oksailing.com) which documents both the City of Kelowna Queensway boat launch and the City of Kelowna Water Street boat launch facilities.
