To the editor:
On behalf of the Mary Ellen Humane Education Society, I would like to thank the Kelowna Capital News for its article in last Friday’s newspaper about the recent Halloween Dog Walk organized by Juliet Watts and several other members of the Kelowna Secondary School Global Awareness Club. [Kelowna Secondary Global Awareness going to the dogs this Halloween, Oct. 28 Kelowna Capital News]
The walk was to help fundraise for the charitable organization’s program Shake-a-Paw that helps youth with mental health issues learn to train dogs needing a home. The fun event raised $265 to be put towards the purchase of dog training equipment. We were so grateful and impressed to see the youth of the KSS Global Awareness Club take a leading role in helping the community get engaged in supporting this worthwhile cause.
