On Aug. 26, Grand Forks’ airport was a hive of activity in a Grand Forks Flying Association event.
There were 21 aircraft from southern B.C. and Alberta that came to sample Grand Forks’ hospitality.
The Grand Forks Elks cooked up their special brand of pancake breakfasts, enjoyed by a large crowd of approximately 300. Other local vendors provided goodies throughout the day.
The antique car club proudly displayed its vehicles and the motorcycle club did the same. A display of fold up bikes attracted lots of attention.
The model aircraft owners wowed the crowd with their amazing performances.
The Grand Forks Flying Association was presented with its new COPA 62 certificate from W. T. (Tim) Cole, the B.C. and Yukon Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) representative.
It was the first fly-In for the new association and following such a successful program another one has been planned for next year on Aug. 25.
Other flying programs are also being planned for the local young people.
So many sponsors and volunteers made the event such a success.
On behalf of the Grand Forks Flying Association, we wish to heartily thank:
- Co-ordinator Chantel Lovegrove, who did an outstanding job
- The many volunteers
- The antique car club
- The model aircraft club
Major sponsors were Extra Foods and Bill Gillespie. Other contributors were ABH Car Sales, West End Grocery. Thank you all.
