LETTER: Lack of physicians in Parksville a troubling problem

I am writing about a distressing situation affecting many of your readers. As of Oct. 15, some patients of the Parksville Medical Clinic (including my husband and I) will be left with no primary health care provider.

We are registered with “PAM” on a lengthy list to be matched with a physician or nurse practitioner. Being in our mid-eighties, we may not have time on our side.

Despite being retired nurses and generally looking after our own ills, we have conditions that need occasional monitoring.

I realize that there are many people needing family doctors in Parksville Qualicum Beach and that there is no easy solution other than the hope for more practitioners to come.
