Dear Editor,
As a 16-year-old member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) program and a Safety Ambassador for the PLAYSAFE program, I have met kids who have lost limbs in accidents that could have been prevented.
With the weather warming up, it’s a good time to teach kids about the dangers that can come with summer, such as lawn mowers, boat motors, and playing around water areas.
I want to help spread the PLAYSAFE message because I hope that it will prevent kids from losing a limb or getting injured.
I would encourage parents to take their children on a “safety walk” and point out the dangers in their area.
It only takes a split second for an accident to happen, so let’s all PLAYSAFE!
