I want to express my congratulations to the much needed Valley Express bus service to Vancouver.
The older I get, the less I like driving on the freeway and this new, wonderful service is an absolute godsend.
This past Sunday, I decided to give it a try and, wow, am I impressed! The bus left downtown Chilliwack at 7:15 a.m., picked up passengers in Abbotsford and arrived at Waterfront Station at 9 a.m. Steve, the experienced driver, was friendly, courteous and an excellent driver. All for the price of $5 for one way and $10 for a return ticket.
The bonus was my fellow passengers. Two young, back-packing women from Germany, were interesting and pleased at not having to spend a bundle to carry on their journey.
The five young teen boys, clutching skateboards, that boarded in Abbotsford, were absolutely delightful. They were exuberant and expressed their excitement for all to hear: “Hey this is awesome. We can afford to do this every weekend.”
I was pleased and impressed that I did not hear the usual F-word interlaced in their expressions of joy!
The return trip was equally pleasant. We left Waterfront Station at 5 p.m., dropped off the Abbotsford passengers and were back in Chilliwack at 6:36 p.m. On the way home, chatting with a lovely young mom, Sharon, and her bright and polite young daughter, Eva, made the trip an absolute pleasure.
Check it out folks, and guess where I am going this Sunday?
