LETTER: Note to Surrey mayor Hepner: No referendum on light rail, no second term

Let’s have referendum on LRT and let the chips fall where they may, reader says.

Linda Hepner had promised during the 2014 election that light rail would be up and running in Surrey by 2018.

The Editor,

Re: “LRT debate is moot – the train has left the station,” the Now editorial, Feb. 25.

First off, who exactly has grown tired of the debate? Campaigning with promises of light rail does not mean at-grade. There can still be a debate on light rail versus SkyTrain.

What can we learn from other cities who have built light rail systems, like the 20-minute intersection waits in Edmonton?

Why do you decry Daryl Dela Cruz and his SkyTrain for Surrey ? Is it because he poses a threat ?

Let’s have that referendum and let the chips fall where they may. Think about it this way – no referendum, no second term for Linda.
