Letter: Ode to the cashier at this time of year

Thanks to the small businesses and the families they do support

To the many who work a job that requires a lot of patience and calm, the whole time they are there.

Working to survive for some, while more are getting needed experience and maybe buy some more gear.

The customer service desk is also another level of expertise. I prefer to either email the company that made the product, or call their toll-free number.

I am glad some can still have a somewhat decent income, and like to pay some bills in person, rather than trust a computer program with auto payments. I do wonder how the folks just starting out survive when the cost of living versus income ratios are not even scalable when compared to 20 years ago.

Thanks to the small businesses and the families they do support, as in this newer millenium, some families are now coast-to-coast and while technology can be fun, might not be all that wonderful to those isolated in weather -20 C.

Cheers to the northerners up there, sometimes the news can go too fast, and please try to drive a bit slower and enjoy this supposed festive time of year.
