Online system to request mail-in ballot flawed
One day last week, I spent a very long time trying to request a mail-in ballot for the upcoming election. On one of the early pages, the computer would not accept my address. Then on the last page, where I had to certify that everything was correct, it had changed Duncan to North Cowichan. Of course, the uploaded photo of my driver’s licence showed that my mailing address was indeed Duncan. On the third try, I did say everything was correct, and the application went through. Then today, my ballot arrived in the mail, in an envelope addressed by hand. I have lived here for 32 years and voted in every election (federal, provincial and municipal). It doesn’t give me much confidence in the government if they can’t even deal with something as simple as this.
