To the editor:
I wish I was a dog.
If I was a dog and my blood test showed I had cancer I could go to a vet and have a biopsy within a couple of days, for a fee of a about $200.
I am a man and doctors have told me I have cancer but I had to wait two months to get a biopsy. Likely, I will have to wait another month or two to receive treatments for my cancer.
Strangely, I can purchase cigarettes and alcohol with my own money but I cannot legally purchase health care services in Canada because it is against the law to do so.
If I was permitted to pay and receive a biopsy I would shorten the waiting list for others needing a biopsy.
I wonder what is happening in Canada with our elected leaders. Do they have any common sense?
