Plan will wipe out green space
Centennial Park is about to become the backyard of a six-storey 122 unit residential building overflowing well into it!
Kiss the park goodbye as you know it today! Duncan Housing Society is planning a new building to replace the Manor presently located on 2nd Street. The Society says they are unable to find another location for it. Folks, this isn’t New York City! When we have to give up part of our one and only family park because the city is not willing to finance another location, something is drastically wrong!
Parking and exit will be moved northward, effectively wiping out most of the well-used green lawn area on the east side of the park.
A petition objecting to this park incursion has already received close to 1,000 signatures. If you wish to sign it, there will be one available near the northeast end of the Saturday morning market, or go to the People For The Park website (savecentennialpark.ca) and from there you can send a letter to the mayor and council and find a link to our online petition and Facebook group.
