LETTER: Playsafe this summer

With the weather warming up, it’s a good time to teach kids about the dangers that can come with summer.

As a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program and a Safety Ambassador for the PLAYSAFE Program, I have met kids who have lost limbs in accidents that could have been prevented.

With the weather warming up, it’s a good time to teach kids about the dangers that can come with summer, such as lawn mowers, boat motors and playing around water areas.

I want to spread The War Amps PLAYSAFE message because these accidents can be avoided with attention to our surroundings. I would encourage parents to take their kids on a “safety walk” and point out the dangers in their area. It only takes a split second for an accident to happen, so let’s all PLAYSAFE!
