To the editor:
It’s now clear that Premier Christy Clark’s vision of our future in the Okanagan Valley does not include any thoughts of reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.
Not that she was ever against the construction of pipelines for environmental reasons. Her only concern has been money and power.
If we could skim enough profit from the pipelines for B.C., she would be just fine with that.
If elected in the Westside-Kelowna byelection, she has promised to pursue the legendary stupidity of building a second bridge over Okanagan Lake and to increase the export of cherries to China.
The environmental cost of building another bridge—both the power needed to create the bridge, the resulting direct damage to the immediate landscape and the ongoing increase in air and water pollution—apparently hasn’t occurred to her.
Nor has she looked at the environmental cost of shipping fresh fruit to another continent.
Do the math Christy. Her vision is hilariously ignorant, self-promoting and short-sighted.
It is frightening to think what else she has up her sleeve for the rest of the province.
