LETTER: Priority for COVID vaccination should be given to health, police and other emergency workers – not us seniors

Priority, therefore should be given to health, police and other emergency workers.

Dear editor,

When the vaccine for COVID-19 rolls out, it should not start with us old folk. Have been 21 for 50 years now and would prefer that I am one of the last vaccinated.

We old folk are not productive members of society and can shelter at home if concerned. Priority, therefore should be given to health, police and other emergency workers. Followed by factory, production plant and office workers; we have to get the economy going. Non-productive citizens who are below retirement age, i.e. politicians, should be at the bottom of the list.

The anti-vaccination brigade will blame the vaccine for any deaths that occur after inoculation. Plus it seems like a terrible waste. The panic stricken more hysterical may disagree, but as the bard said in Julius Caesar, “Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.”
