An open letter to the youth of SAGA:
I read your thank you letter to the City of Grand Forks for the rainbow sidewalk. I was taken with your expression of now feeling accepted and welcomed by the community.
It makes me sad to think that you youth who have maybe grown up in this warm and caring community just now feel loved and accepted only because your sexual preference has been acknowledged by the city.
Do you dear ones not feel valued and part of the community as family and friends and co-workers together here aside from this? If you truly feel that your value, self worth or esteem comes primarily from your sexuality, how limiting and sad that is.
I would wish you dear youth to know that your acceptance and self worth comes from the great creator who formed you for far more than sexual activity. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by an all powerful, all knowing wise and loving God. That is where your true acceptance and well being or sense of belonging comes from.
Yes, He created us as sexual beings but that is just one part of who we are. Our sex life is a very powerful but private personal area of our lives. Treat your body with great respect, you only get one in this life. We care about you and accept you, but not subject to what your sexual choices are. Guide your affairs with discretion. Privacy is a precious commodity. We don’t need to see everything! The best to you all!
