Editor: It’s time for Canada to meet marine planning and protection goals, including placing a ban on oil tankers in the ecologically sensitive north coast of B.C.
Why is it that in 2016 we are not prepared to manage a small oil or gas spill in the pristine waters alongside the Great Bear Rainforest?
The answer is simple, our government is not prepared, despite their repeated guarantees that we are. The risks are extremely great.
I am angry that we have been promised protection of this sensitive environment, only to be disappointed again.
I have reserved a trip to visit the Great Bear Rainforest in Klemut next year to visit this remarkable place and I have tremendous gratitude for the safekeeping of the rainforest by our provincial government, so please don’t ruin it. People from all over the world are waiting for a chance to visit this incredible place.
