Letter: Saying thank you to the farmers

I would like to extend my gratitude to all the farmers in our community

Dear Editor,

As we approach Thanksgiving, I would like to extend my gratitude to all the farmers in our community who work tirelessly to grow our fruit, vegetables and flowers.

Specifically I would like to thank the de Boer’s of Summerland Greenhouses who have for more than a decade donated the beautiful flowers for our platforms and gardens; the McLeod’s of Bush Art Gardens who planted and watered the Canyon View platform planter at the Trout Creek Bridge for more than five years; Billy Boerboom of the Windmill Garden Centre & Apple Barn who for the last few years has contributed hanging flower baskets for our station and apples to give away to passengers; the Selwood’s of The Market who donated a bounty of pumpkins, squash and gourds to decorate at Thanksgiving and the Nield’s who this year contributed apples and cornstalks to help create our harvest décor for everyone to enjoy.

Their contributions to the railway reflect the generous spirit of all farmers in Summerland. Let’s remember them during our Thanksgiving celebrations.
